The Birch Midwifery Practice provides independent midwifery care to women and their families in Essex, Suffolk and Cambridge.

We truly believe that this is your pregnancy, your birth and your baby. We believe that by providing personalised care on your terms, appointments at your convenience, time to talk, time to discuss and time for you is how maternity care should be and this is what we offer to you.

In pregnancy you deserve to be nurtured and cared for, you deserve the choice of when and where you have your antenatal care, you deserve to be able to choose who provides your care, you deserve to know who you are going to see at each appointment and you deserve unbiased information to make your own choices.

With independent midwifery care you get someone who cares and nurtures you, you can have your appointments in your own home at a time convenient to you, you will meet a midwife and talk to them before you decide to engage their services, you will then know who will provide your care and they will provide information for you to make your choices, without bias and without having to consider issues such as time and staffing levels.

In labour you deserve to choose where you labour and give birth, based on you and your baby's well being not on organisational issues and you deserve to choose who is with you during this momentus and intimate time. After your baby is born you deserve to have the number and timing of visits that suits your needs, you deserve to know who will provide that care when you invite them into your home. With independent midwifery care you get all this and more.
